WHAT SUSTAINABILITY MEANS TO US
Sustainability is at the heard of everything we do. We believe that sustainability means creating high quality, long-lasting products whilst minimising our negative impact and enhancing the positive impact we can have on people and the planet. Our made-to-order business model is designed to naturally minimise waste and overproduction, and we are committed to craftsmanship that embraces sustainable practices.
OUR IMPACT AREAS
We have set targets for our key impact areas and we are measuring our progress annually to achieve our overall goal of reducing absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 42% (against a 2019 baseline) before 2030.
Having examined the data points over the last 3 years the decision was made to focus efforts on our 3 main locations where we have the potential to deliver more than 90% of the improvements needed to achieve our 2030 goals.
Environment
CARBON EMISSIONS
In 2025 we have calculated our emissions footprint for Scope 1 & 2 in accordance with the GHG Protocol Framework. Our total emissions for 2025 were 668 tonnes CO2e resulting in a total reduction of 47.43% from our 2019 baseline.
In line with our established Environmental Policy we continue to focus on creating improvements and efficiencies across our business units.
WASTE
Waste in the fashion industry continues to be a significant challenge.
Scabal is committed to a low waste business model, we encourage responsible consumption and a slow fashion approach within all business units.
We have now calculated and consolidated waste and packaging data across our main sites, allowing us to identify the areas with the greatest impact and to establish a consistent monitoring process.
In 2025, overall waste reduced by 6% against our 2023 baseline with the recycled portion increasing to 70,2% from the baseline of 43,7%.
SOURCING MATERIALS
We believe that sustainable and ethical sourcing is the foundation of our quality and craftmanship. We are focused on improving how we source raw materials for our own mill as well as others within our supply chain, so that we can continue to create beautiful, high quality products that are made with the planet and its people in mind.
In 2025, we strenghtened our approach to responsible sourcing and environmental standards across all business units. Our weaving unit obtained and maintained certifications for RWS (Responsible Wool Standard), RMS (Responsible Mohair Standard), SFA (Sustainable Fibre Alliance) and ISO 14001, reinforcing our commitment to traceability and sustainable production practices.
OUR PEOPLE
Our ambition is to provide a safe, healthy and positive working environment where our colleagues feel respected, valued and empowered to thrive at what they do. It’s not just the right thing to do but we strongly believe that it helps drive innovation and creativity that can help to continue to differentiate Scabal in the marketplace.
