Kent State Students Reimagine Dalí’s Vision for the Future of Fashion

Earlier this summer, the Dalí Beyond Time: Fashioning the Future exhibition opened at Peg’s Foundation & Gallery in Hudson, Ohio, bringing Salvador Dalí’s fashion-inspired works to the United States for the very first time. Commissioned by Scabal in 1971, the twelve paintings envisioned what men’s fashion might look like in the year 2000—surreal, bold, and decades ahead of their time.

Alongside these historic pieces, the spotlight turned to the next generation of designers. Junior-year students from Kent State University’s School of Fashion were invited to respond to the same challenge given to Dalí more than fifty years ago: to merge timeless luxury with forward-looking creativity. Their twelve original designs—wearable works of art—stood as a bridge between past imagination and future possibility.

For Scabal, which has always championed craftsmanship and innovation, supporting these students represents a continuation of its legacy: nurturing creativity, sparking dialogue between tradition and modernity, and celebrating the visionaries of tomorrow.
