Care Tips to Make Your Jacket Last a Lifetime

A tailor-made jacket deserves proper attention. With a few simple habits, you can preserve the elegance, shape, and longevity of your Scabal jacket. Here’s how:

1. Hang It Right

Always use a structured wooden hanger with wide, curved shoulders. This helps support the shape of the garment and avoids sagging or distortion over time.

2. Let It Rest

After wearing, allow your jacket or coat to rest for 24–48 hours before using it again. This helps the fabric breathe and recover its natural form.

3. Avoid Overcleaning

Frequent dry cleaning can wear down the fibres. Instead, use a clothes brush to gently remove surface dust or lint after each wear. A steamer can help release wrinkles and refresh the fabric without damage.

4. Dry Clean Only When Necessary

If deeper cleaning is required, opt for professional dry cleaning, and make sure the cleaner has experience with high-quality wool and tailored garments. Do this only when truly needed.

5. Store It Properly

When not in use, store your jacket or coat in a dust covers or enclosed garment bags (never plastic) to protect it from dust and moths. Keep it in a cool, dry space, away from direct sunlight and humidity to prevent fading or mildew.

6. Pack with Care

When travelling, fold gently along the seams or use a garment bag to avoid creasing. Hang the piece as soon as possible upon arrival and steam if needed.

  • Triumph Swatch 755045

    Super 100–180 / CASHMERE

These fine fabrics are naturally breathable and resilient but require gentle care. Use a soft clothes brush after wearing, steam to remove wrinkles, and dry clean only when necessary to maintain their quality.

  • COTTON

Cotton is more durable but should still be treated with care in tailored garments. Steam lightly if needed, and prefer dry cleaning to preserve structure and finish.

  • SILK

Silk is extremely delicate and should be dry cleaned only. Store garments away from direct light, and avoid contact with perfumes or deodorants, which can stain the fabric.

  • Pure Linen Swatch 802991

    LINEN

Linen is prone to creasing, so steaming is recommended over ironing. Store on a wide hanger and avoid overcrowding in the wardrobe. Dry clean to help retain structure and longevity.
